God doesn’t offer us leftovers. He spared no expense and lovingly gave me His very first and His very best:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son”
John 3:16
How then can I respond with just leftovers? Should I not gratefully prioritize the finest and best I can offer each day in return?
Maybe life is just too busy. There’s not enough time. I’m only given 365 days in a year, 168 hours in a week, and 1440 minutes in a day.
According to national averages:
- Sleep gets the first and finest of 480 minutes (1/3 of each day).
- Listening to, watching, reading or interacting with media gets the best of 660 minutes (11 hours; 46% of each day):
- Social Media, Texting, Email – 176 minutes (nearly 3 hours)
- Online Content – 274 minutes (4.5 hours)
- Television – 210 minutes (3.5 hours)
- Video Gaming is afforded the finest of 51 minutes.
- Leisure and interests are given the best of 180 minutes (3 hours).
DAILY TOTAL = 22.9 hours
“Then He [Jesus] came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?”
Matt 26:40
“We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little; many services but few conversions; much machinery but few results.”
-R. A. Torrey
“In the morning, prayer is the key that opens to us the treasures of God’s mercies and blessings; Every day has exactly 1440 minutes; could not even 10 of them be with your heavenly Father? Does not God deserve the best minutes of our day?”
-Billy Graham
