Act. Now!

Written by:

There is a season to wait and a season to move ahead by faith.

“IF and WHEN were planted, and NOTHING grew.”

Proverb

God honors faith that is acted on. We must eventually step out and begin to move forward. In anything we seek, it is highly improbable that God will provide all the answers and details we desire but just enough confirmation to take the next step.

And that’s the critical point.

We tend to stipulate that all “ducks be in a row” before acting. We demand certainties and guarantees complete with risk assessments and escape plans. We’re unwilling to “sign on” until we have a self-defined comfort level.

“You may delay, but time will not.”

-Benjamin Franklin

However, God states that our faith is counted as righteousness (Romans 4:3):

If the request is wrong, God says no. If the timing is wrong, God says slow. If you are wrong, God says grow. But if the request is right, the timing is right, and you are right, God says go.

-Greg Laurie

“Begin to weave, and God will give you the thread.”

-German Proverb

“A primary reason people don’t do new things is because they want to do them perfectly – first time. It’s completely irrational, impractical, and not workable, yet it’s how most people run their lives. It’s called The Perfection Syndrome.”

-John-Roger and Peter McWilliams

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase; just take the first step.”

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

“The only difference between success and failure is the ability to take action.”

-Alexandre Graham Bell

“Do you know what happens when you give a procrastinator a good idea? Nothing!”

-Donald Gardner

“Yesterday is a canceled check. Tomorrow is a promissory note. Today is the only cash you have, so spend it wisely.”

-Kim Lyons

And to that, the Bible tells us:

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”

Matt 7:7

God didn’t say “might.”

We’re promised that it WILL be given, and that we WILL find, and that it WILL be opened.

However, if paralyzed by fear and doubt, we’re like a boat sitting motionless in the water: unsteerable and arriving nowhere. We won’t budge till we get answers and assurances against every pitfall.

But insisting on every answer is not faith. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Heb 11:1).

So – Act, Now! Without every answer.

God WILL supply, guide, and open the way when we begin to step out by faith and trust in Him.
